As the President of Velazquez Global Consulting Group (VGCG), Anthony has combined 33 years of government service with seven years of demonstrated success in the private sector as a proven leader in the risk mitigation, business intelligence and the security services domain. VGCG now provides a broad spectrum of consulting, crisis management/response and security/investigative services to multi-national corporations, law firms, and other clients to mitigate risk and provide solutions that make sense.
During his 24 years as a Special Agent with the FBI, Anthony was assigned to the Miami Division of the FBI, specializing in cargo theft and supply-chain security, organized and violent crime, counterterrorism, fraud, cublic Corruption, AML, undercover operations, and kidnapping investigations.
As a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator and certified Undercover Agent (UCA), Anthony has extensive experience in designing and managing hostage/crisis negotiations and undercover operations both domestically and abroad.
Anthony served as the FBI Assistant Legal Attache (ALAT) in Cape Town, South Africa, from 2007 through 2011, covering over 16 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. His efforts focused on crisis management and response, terrorist threats and a broad spectrum of criminal violations including kidnappings, fraud, money laundering, and murder of U.S. citizens. Anthony has extensive experience in Central/South America in support of complex investigations, crisis management and kidnapping response. These collective efforts abroad include the 2001 rescue of a five-year old girl kidnapped in Haiti, the kidnapping of a U.S. Diplomat in Guyana, and the murder of a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Lesotho.
Anthony provided security and crisis management leadership for several world special events, including the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He was also instrumental in establishing intelligence collection platforms during the FIFA World Cups in South Africa and Brazil.
As a certified Adjunct Police Instructor for the FBI, he has taught Interview and Interrogation, Undercover Operations, Cargo Theft, Informant Development, Enterprise Theory of Investigation, and Gang/Organized Crime investigations courses throughout the United States and abroad.
After retiring from the FBI, Anthony became the Vice President of Operations at Andrews International (AI) and was responsible for risk mitigation, field operations, and oversight of global investigations as well as threat and crisis management for domestic and multi-national clients and corporations.
Upon leaving AI after four years, Anthony became the Vice President of Global Security for Gildan Activewear Inc. and was responsible for Gildan's overall corporate security strategy, security architecture development, and global function oversight. He led a team of very experienced security professionals that included the Director of Global Security, Director of Security Honduras & Nicaragua, Regional Security Director Bangladesh & Asia, eight Security Managers, the C-TPAT Compliance Manager, and a Special Security Advisor.
Anthony is certified as a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator, UCA, and an FBI Adjunct Professor, and Assessor. He speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese and is a member of the FBI Agents Association, the FBI National Academy Associates, and the Society of Former Special Agents.
Anthony honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for over eight years and holds a B.S. in Electronics Systems Management from Southern Illinois University and a M.A. in National Security Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
